The short answer

Craften Roofing & Exteriors replaces and repairs siding on homes throughout Chattanooga and Hamilton County, TN, including James Hardie fiber cement (Hardie board), vinyl and wood. Craften is a James Hardie certified contractor. Estimates are free, the written price is final, most siding projects take one to two weeks, and owner Bryan Casey oversees each installation.

Siding services

Full siding replacement. Old, warped or rotting siding comes off, we inspect and repair the sheathing underneath, install a proper weather-resistive barrier and flashing, and put up the new siding with the manufacturer spacing and fastening. Corners, trim, soffit and fascia are part of the job, not an extra.

Siding repair. Storm damage, a cracked panel, a section that is letting water in behind it. We match the existing material where it is still available and fix the underlying cause, not just the visible board.

Trim, soffit and fascia. Included as part of any siding project when they need it. Rotted fascia behind a gutter line is one of the most common things we find and one of the cheapest to fix while the siding is off.

Signs it is time for new siding

  • Boards that are warped, cracked, soft or pulling away from the house
  • Peeling paint that comes back within a year of repainting
  • Mold, mildew or moisture stains on interior walls near exterior corners
  • Higher heating and cooling bills with no other explanation
  • Woodpecker holes, insect damage or rot at the bottom courses
  • Faded, chalky vinyl that will not clean up

Why homeowners do siding and roofing together

If both are near the end of their life, doing them in one project saves money on setup, avoids damaging new siding during a later tear-off, and lets us integrate the flashing where the roof meets the walls.

Ask for a combined estimate and we will price both.

Siding FAQ

Questions about siding in Chattanooga

It varies with square footage, material, how many stories the house has and how much repair is needed underneath. We provide a free written estimate after inspecting the house, and the number does not change once you approve it.
For most Chattanooga homes, yes. Fiber cement lasts decades, handles humidity and hail better, and holds paint longer. Vinyl is the right choice when budget is the main concern or on a home you do not plan to keep long.
Yes. Craften holds James Hardie certification, so fiber cement goes up to the manufacturer spacing, fastening and flashing details that keep its warranty valid.
Most homes take one to two weeks. A single-story house with sound sheathing is at the short end; two stories or extensive rot repair push toward the long end. You get the schedule with the estimate.
Yes. We often replace the elevation that gets the most sun and rain first, matching the existing material as closely as possible.
Hardie board comes with a factory finish, or we can install primed boards and paint them on site in any color you want.
The sheathing, the weather-resistive barrier and the flashing. Siding hung over rotten sheathing or without proper flashing will fail no matter how good the material is, so we inspect and repair what is underneath before anything new goes up.
