Questions Chattanooga homeowners ask us

Everything below is answered the way we would answer it on your driveway. If your question is not here, call and Bryan will tell you straight.

Working with Craften

Five: roofing, siding, windows, decks and painting. Roofing covers replacement, repair, storm damage and free inspections. Siding covers fiber cement, vinyl and wood, plus trim, soffit and fascia. Windows covers full-frame and insert replacement. Decks covers new builds, repairs and rebuilds in composite or wood. Painting covers exterior and interior.
Yes, and we would rather say so. We do not install entry or patio doors, we do not paint cabinets, and we do not take on drywall, fence replacement or gutter work as a standalone service. Gutters are replaced only when they are part of a contracted job, such as a roof replacement. If you need one of those, we will tell you rather than stretch.
Within 24 hours. Send the form or call, and Bryan or a member of the team follows up within 24 hours to set up your free estimate.
No. Every consultation and written estimate is free, with no obligation. We will come out, look at the work in person and give you a number you can hold us to.
Yes. Once you approve a written estimate, that is what you pay. If we uncover hidden damage that changes the scope, we stop, show you, and agree on it in writing before continuing.
Yes. Craften Roofing & Exteriors is a licensed and insured contractor in Tennessee. We are happy to send proof of insurance before work starts.
Bryan Casey, the owner. He oversees every project from the first walkthrough to the final one. The person who prices your job is the person responsible for it.
Yes. A 10-year workmanship warranty from Craften, plus 30-year manufacturer warranties on the materials we install. The paperwork is handed over at the final walkthrough.
Yes. Craften is a GAF and Owens Corning certified roofing contractor and a James Hardie certified siding contractor. Those certifications are what stand behind the manufacturer warranties on the materials we install.
Yes, through Wisetack. Ask about it when you request your estimate and we will walk you through the options.
Roof replacements usually take one to two days. Siding, windows and decks usually take one to two weeks. Every estimate comes with a schedule for your specific house.

Service area

The Greater Chattanooga area, roughly a fifty-mile radius from our office on Dayton Boulevard in Red Bank. That covers Hamilton, Marion, Bradley and Sequatchie counties in Tennessee, and Catoosa, Dade and Walker counties in Georgia.
Enter your ZIP code in the service-area check on our home page. It tells you immediately whether you are inside our service area, and if you are not, we will say so plainly rather than waste your time.
Yes. Rossville, Fort Oglethorpe, Ringgold, Chickamauga, LaFayette and Trenton are all inside our area, along with the rest of Catoosa, Walker and Dade counties.
No. The estimate covers the work. The price we quote is the price you pay whether the house is in Red Bank or Cleveland.

Roofing

It depends on the size and pitch of the roof, the number of layers to remove, decking condition and shingle choice. Rather than publish a range that will not fit your house, we give a free written estimate after seeing the roof.
Often, yes. If the shingles have life left and the problem is localized, such as a pipe boot, a section of flashing or wind-lifted shingles, a repair is the right call and we will say so.
Call us and we will inspect the roof at no charge. We photograph and document what we find so you have a clear record of the damage before any work starts.
Yes. We document the damage, help you with the claim, meet your insurance adjuster on site, and do the work once the claim is approved.
Both. Four yearly maintenance plans run from $99 to $999 a year, from a single annual inspection up to quarterly visits with a soft wash and minor repair coverage. For roofs that are aging but sound, we apply GoNano rejuvenation treatments. Details and the plan comparison are on the Roofing page.

Siding, windows, decks and painting

For most Chattanooga homes, yes. Fiber cement lasts decades, handles humidity and hail better, and holds paint longer. Vinyl is the right choice when budget is the main concern or on a home you do not plan to keep long.
It is usually cheaper per window and gives you a consistent look, but it is not required. Many homeowners start with the worst-performing side of the house.
Yes. Most new decks and structural rebuilds need a permit from the city or Hamilton County, and we handle the permit, the paperwork and the inspections as part of the job.
If you plan to stay in the house and do not want to stain a deck every two years, composite. If budget is the priority or you like the look of real wood, pressure-treated or cedar.
No. Interior painting covers walls, ceilings, trim, baseboards, doors and accent walls. Cabinet painting is not something we offer.
Wood siding and trim usually need repainting every five to eight years in this climate. Fiber cement holds paint longer, often ten to fifteen years. Sun-facing sides go first.
Yes, and it often saves money. Roofing and siding done together saves on setup, avoids damaging new siding during a later tear-off, and lets us integrate the flashing where the roof meets the walls. Ask for a combined estimate.
